New York (PTI): The US and the European Union have taken a “criminal path” by encouraging use of food crops to produce bio-fuels and thus contributing to an “explosive rise” in global food prices, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food has said.

The global food price crises bring the bio-fuel controversy to the forefront. In a battle of “good will” between aiding poverty and aiding climate change…who wins? Is bio-fuel the answer to aiding poverty and the climate crises or one of the leading causes of both. You decide.
